Sublative Radiofrequency (eMatrix): How This Skin Treatment Improves Texture, Tone, and Acne Scars
You can rejuvenate your skin without the downtime of traditional ablative resurfacing. eMatrix® technology harnesses radiofrequency energy to tighten your skin, even its tone, and minimize acne scars.

As we get better at harnessing energy, it’s changing the game in aesthetic treatments. With ablative resurfacing, for example, laser energy can be used to remove the top layer of your skin, encouraging new, unblemished cells to grow in its place.

At the same time, the laser energy stimulates the production of collagen, the protein that supports your skin. This minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.

The problem? Ablative resurfacing comes with up to two weeks of downtime. Fortunately, it’s not your only option for leveraging new energy-based technologies to rejuvenate your skin.

As part of her suite of aesthetic skin care services, Jean Johnson, MD, offers sublative radiofrequency treatment with eMatrix®. With this option, she can encourage the growth of new skin cells and collagen with minimal downtime.

If you’ve been looking for a way to address texture, tone, or acne scars, see Dr. Johnson and our team at Rejuvenation For Her in Weston, Florida.

How sublative radiofrequency treatment works

eMatrix treatment utilizes a specialized applicator to send radiofrequency energy into your skin through tiny multi-electrode pins. This essentially creates a grid on your skin, with small areas of ablation (skin cell removal) surrounded by untreated tissue. This way, your skin can tap into the resources from the untreated area to heal quickly after treatment.

The ablation encourages the production of new, unblemished skin cells on your skin’s surface. That makes eMatrix ideal for addressing skin tone and texture problems, including acne scars and pigmented spots.

Meanwhile, the radiofrequency energy penetrates the deeper layers of your skin. There, it jumpstarts your skin’s collagen production processes.

Over time, as your skin produces new collagen, those proteins act as a scaffolding that helps tighten your skin and improve elasticity. That minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.

Sublative radiofrequency with eMatrix is safe for all skin types.

What to expect with eMatrix

Dr. Johnson performs eMatrix with your comfort in mind. She can apply a numbing cream before treatment.

Most people take a few days off from social obligations after their appointment. You’ll likely have some swelling or redness. You might even be able to see the treatment grid on your skin. That’s totally normal.

Within a few days, you should start to notice an improvement in the surface of your skin. Over the coming months, as your body does the work of creating more collagen, you should notice that your skin feels firmer.

Some people achieve their ideal results with one treatment. For more dramatic rejuvenation, Dr. Johnson may recommend a series of treatments spaced about a month apart.

This technology delivers results. One study found that 94% of people treated with eMatrix reported noticeable improvement in their wrinkles.
